Hello
Fernando knew he was meant to create fantastic worlds when he first experienced the magic of Cirque du Soleil in his hometown of Mexico City. The breathtaking universe of The Lord of the Rings further fueled his imagination, inspiring a lifelong passion for design and storytelling, which led him from architecture to theatre.
Fernando's design journey started at the University of Manitoba, where he developed a strong foundation in spatial awareness and artistic storytelling. Following graduation, Fernando volunteered with an NGO in the northern mountain range of Mexico, tackling climatic and resource challenges that tested his skills and resourcefulness. He later joined Nejmark Architect in Winnipeg, gaining valuable experience across projects of various scales and uses.
Despite his success in architecture, Fernando was drawn back to the magic of storytelling and visual spectacle that first captivated him, leading him to pursue Set and Costume Design at the National Theatre School of Canada. Since then, he has contributed to numerous theatre productions, working closely with directors and creative teams to design sets and costumes that transform stories into immersive, visually compelling experiences.
Based in Montreal, Fernando continues to bring his architectural sensibility and attention to detail to his theatre work, combining creativity with technical precision. When not designing for the stage, he engages in personal artistic projects in his studio, exploring new creative avenues and expanding his craft.
